Welcome to Church of the Holy Light!!
Pastors Brenda and Tom
A BIT OF HISTORY....Belfast, Maine
Pastor Tom and Brenda Ventura are ordained ministers out of Bangor,
Maine. They were ordained by one of the larger churches in the state at
Abundant Life Church, where they served for seven years. In 2001 they
planted a church in the tiny town of Jackson, Maine before moving the
church into Belfast in 2002. They rented out a room in the Belfast Free
Library for about a year before moving to their present location at
96 Main St. (2nd floor)
Belfast, Maine.
WHAT KIND OF CHURCH IS IT?..........
The Church of the Holy Light is a non-denominational church, which means that
they are not "formally" aligned with an established denomination. This does not
mean that they are "anti-denominational", they simply function via internal means
and methods without "external direction in policy." They consider themselves
CHRISTIAN, and feel comfortable in most churches that include the doctrine of
the Trinity. THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY LIGHT
derives it's name from the fact that they believe that JESUS is the true
Holy Light, so they could just as easily be called THE CHURCH OF JESUS.
WHAT IS THE "ATMOSPHERE" LIKE?..........
The church is quite "laid-back" as there are "cafe style" tables set up in the
church and free coffee and tea available before, DURING, and after the
service. However the teachings are always from the BIBLE, and they try
to take their Christian walks with concern.
As a church they believe that Jesus Christ is their personal saviour, and that
the WORD OF GOD is just that; the "WORD OF GOD". Although they are NOT
DOGMATIC, they attempt to teach and live by the principles set forth in
The Bible.
WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE SERVICES?........
The church services are on Sunday at 10am. Once again the location is
96 Main St. (across the street from Weaver's Bakery, and next to Chase's Daily Restaurant),
on the second floor. Their phone number is 338-4441, and the church email is
